SVA Film & Animation
FACULTY: Dayna Gonzalez

Animator, Designer, Entrepreneur

Art has been a passion of mine since childhood.

The act of breathing life into a character, no matter the medium, is often a labor of love. This is a field that requires tenacity and versatility. Animation is said to be a lonely pursuit, but it’s been my experience that animators are a tight-knit community that enjoy supporting and promoting each other’s work. As Co-President of ASIFA-East, I met many students whose raw talent, enthusiasm, and curiosity towards animation really stood out. Films that won Best in Show in our annual festival were often from students. I’m eager to share my experiences and enthusiasm for animation with my students. I’m a strong believer in learning by doing, making mistakes, and getting back up again. I’m looking forward to fostering creativity and seeing what students come up with.

My journey in animation began at Nick Jr., as an Animator for Blue’s Clues. 6 seasons and a puppet show later, I was officially introduced into the freelance NY animation scene. It was sink or swim during a recession, but I would go on to animate, as well as put together research storybook art for numerous television, film, and interactive media productions for studios such as Sesame Workshop, Nickelodeon, Disney and others. I formed my own studio in 2012, Jumping Tadpole Productions LLC, providing animation, graphic, and web design services.
